Iligan falls within the third type of climate wherein the seasons are not very pronounced. Rain is more or less evenly distributed throughout the year. Because of its tropical location, the city does not experience cold weather. Neither does it experience strong weather disturbances due to its geographical location (being outside the typhoon belt).

Philippine Time: Philippine Standard Time is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean time.

Attire: With the city’s fair climate, loose and comfortable clothes are advised.

Currency: The city uses the Philippine peso. The US dollar is also accepted, but it's good to have it changed to peso (at the banks or authorized money changers). For foreigners , it would be wise to always have Philippine bills and coins (for convenience).

Public Transport

Taxi are available anytime of the day

Jeepneys or jeeps are the most common public transport in the city with a minimal fare of P 12.00, P 10.00 for students/ Senior Citizens and Persons with disabilities (PWD)

Habal-habal or motorcycles are the common transport going to the outskirts and hinterlands.

Electronic Jeepneys are also available for certain areas in Iligan such as Northbound Tambo Terminal, MSU-IIT / SSS, Robinsons Place Iligan, Westbound Terminal, Bayanihan Village

In addition to providing transportation inside Iligan, buses are also available for trips into and out of the city of Iligan
