Project SAFE: Protecting Our Children, Supporting Their Future
Project SAFE: Protecting Our Children, Supporting Their Future
DATE : Dec 01, 2025
Author • Freddie Siao Page
This morning, the City Government of Iligan joined the DSWD for the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for Project SAFE (Systematic Action for the Empowerment Against OSAEC) — an initiative inspired by Iligan’s own story in protecting children from online sexual abuse and exploitation.
Through Project SAFE, survivors who have been reintegrated will receive long-term educational assistance, giving them real hope and opportunity to continue their studies:
• PHP 3,000 per quarter for Elementary Learners
• PHP 5,000 per quarter for High School Students
• PHP 8,000 per quarter for College / Vocational / Technical Students
For 2025, the pilot areas include:
• 23 learners in Angeles City
• 26 learners in Cebu City
• 26 learners in Iligan City
We were joined by Ramel F. Jamen, Regional Director, DSWD Field Office X; Evelyn S. Madrio, Head of CSWD; Kevin Antonio Bumagat, Project Team Leader, Social Tech Bureau; Darlene R. Dancel, Division Chief – Children and Youth, Social Technology Bureau; Police Lt. Col. Atty. Michelle S. Olaivar, Chief of Women and Children Protection Unit, PNP Iligan; and partners from our barangays.
Even if the children and parents were not physically present today, seeing the dedication and commitment of our partners warmed my heart. Daghang salamat sa inyong suporta — kay pinaagi ninyo, ang kabataan nato dili lang maprotektahan, kundi mahatagan pud og chance nga makapadayon sa pag-eskwela ug makab-ot ang ilang mga damgo.
As your Mayor, I take this advocacy personally. Project SAFE is not just a program — it is a promise to our children and families: safety, education, and hope.
Padayon ta, Iligan! Ang atong paningkamot dili matapos karon, pero usa ka lakang nga puno sa paglaom ug pagbag-o para sa mga kabataan.
